After much anticipation, the details of the Action Against Hunger Bloggers’ Fundraiser on November 15th were revealed today on Niamh Shields’ Eat Like A Girl Food Blog, and I think it is a fantastic idea that will turn into a very successful and fun event.
The Plan: On Sunday, the 15th of November, the food bloggers will be taking over Hawksmoor in Liverpool Street for a “Blaggers’ Banquet,” a dinner which will be created by the bloggers using only food they have blagged [in most cases, this translates as 'given to by a PR who hopes they will blog about it'…] and that they themselves cook and serve.
There will also be a blaggers’ auction for items donated which won’t be cooked and eaten on the night! This auction will be two fold, a portion of it on the night, and the rest in the weeks following. Further details relating to the auction will be announced as they become available.
The organisers have just over three weeks to pull all of this off, and I am hoping to get involved from the blogger and the PR side of things. As a blogger, you won’t find me in the kitchen, but with my years of experience in catering/food and beverage (knew that part time job in a country club banquet hall would come in handy!), I plan to get involved by serving or playing hostess on the night. As a PR, I am going to try to get as many of my food clients involved with this as possible, as all proceeds go to Action Against Hunger.
More info from www.EatLikeAGirl.com about what the Blaggers’ Banquet organisers need to help pull of this event, along with contact information if you’d like to get involved, is below.
PRODUCERS: Want to donate some produce? Food, drink, items for the auction? It might be a good way to get your products seen by thousands of blog followers and sampled by the lucky few who get tickets for the banquet. Please get in touch – email firstname.lastname@example.org. We want to hear from you.
BLOGGERS: We’ve had a lot of blogger volunteers, but we could always do with more! We will need people in the kitchen, people front of house and blaggers. If you are interested in getting involvedven’t been in touch already, please email me at email@example.com. Those that have been in touch, I’ll be emailing asap.
AUCTION: We need lots of stuff for auction. Whatever you’ve got. Equipment, food, wine, trips, posh dinners. Whatever you’ve got, seriously! There will be an auction on the night and an online auction. Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
