Do you ‘kombucha?’

Have you heard of BAO Kombucha ? I have to tell you about this product because it is simply marvelous.  What on earth is it, you say? Well, it is a naturally fizzy drink, made from fermented raw kombucha, which I came across when I first moved to New York earlier this summer.

Yes, it is raw, and yes it is sold in most health food stores in the city. It is often seen in the hands of Williamsburg hipsters and West Village celebs, but don’t let that stop you from trying it. BAO Kombucha (my favorite kind of the bottled drink) is delicious, naturally good for you and it gives you a boost of caffeine.

BAO Kombucha isn’t going to make you skinny and it may not cure disease (although many cultures believe it has healing powers) but it is made with organic black and green tea, vitamins and healthy organic acids. It’s packed with probiotic bacteria and yeast called SCOBY, which aids digestion, and it is fermented to create a naturally sparkling drink. It is, quite simply, the perfect healthy answer to my annoyingly stubborn late afternoon cravings for a diet coke.

Made and bottled locally, you can find all seven flavors of BAO Kombucha in most major grocery and health stores in Greater New York. You can also get it delivered locally and, oh yes, you can even order a keg of it if you like. If you don’t live in New York, don’t fret – there are other brands of Kombucha sold all around the US.

For a healthy, refreshing kick of caffeine, there isn’t anything better out there – already bottled for you – on the shelves. BAO is good for you, low in calories, and full of nutritiously delicious goodies. You’ll never go for sodas or any of that other toxic waste ever again.

*I have been drinking and purchasing my own BAO kombucha for months, and when I expressed interest and mentioned I might write a blog about it, the company sent me a few free bottles. Good people, eh?

Not available in Miami yet :( . Why do you have to be 21 to look at the raw stuff on the website?
