Indulge responsibly with Fru fruity puds

Fru fruity puds are the perfect dessert for someone who is trying to lose weight or manage a healthy diet. That’s right, I said it: these fruity, sugary, delightful pots of summer flavours come highly recommended if you’re on a diet. Why, you might ask? Because they come in individual pots – two sizes depending on just how many bites of dessert you may require that evening – and are a great way to enjoy a sweet treat once in a while without going overboard.

28442_10100436056151791_2006765_68836431_679178_nFru fruity puds – the exotic, carefree sister brand of Gu puds – come in either plastic mini pots or ‘posh ramekin’ pots (the kind you can save and reuse) and five different flavours.

At 150-200 calories for the mini pots, you can enjoy the raspberry and blackcurrant pud or a few spoonfuls of the mango and passion fruit cheesecake (which is so worth it for the crunchy biscuit base) once or twice a week, if you must have something sweet. The bigger, more indulgent pots are best to save for a treat every now and then but for about 300 calories each, at least you know what you’re doing and you can stop as soon your spoon scrapes the glass bottom of the pot!

The bigger pots come in two flavours: lemon cheesecake and key lime pie. Both have a biscuit base which gives the puds a lovely texture and delicious buttery, ginger flavour. The best part about them? No cooking required. Not even a toss in the oven needed. Just whip them out of the fridge and enjoy.

Of course, I’m not suggesting you should add these Fru fruity puds to your diet to lose or maintain a healthy weight. However, they are a great way to include dessert as part of a healthy diet if portion control is not exactly your strong point. We all need a delicious treat in our lives every now and then. So go on, live a little. And as a native Floridian, may I suggest the key lime pie?
